The story of Pat’s is the story of our family
Our tale begins in the faraway land of Cambodia, a country bordering Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. In search of better opportunities and armed with a dream to succeed, our family immigrated to the United States in hopes of achieving these goals. It would take many years of hard work, oftentimes with no days off, and perseverance to fully realize the vision that our family had set for itself. With such a big goal in mind, every member of the family including the children, would focus on mastering their craft in order to bring that dream into fruition.

Fast forward to today, and the children have grown up to continue the family’s dream of providing a product filled with the love and care that took many years to master. Pat’s became the home to the donuts, kolaches, and many other goods that are crafted daily with the same love and attention that the family arrived with many years ago. But the story does not end there. Pat’s focus is to lead the donut industry to new heights while preserving, innovating, and continuing on the many recipes brought over generations ago.

All while providing the same great service our customers have come to identify with Pat’s. As from the very first day, Pat’s goal is to provide a unique experience to all and bring a smile to everyone who comes through our doors. We aspire to make everyone feel comfortable and at home while they enjoy a little piece of our family’s history. A Cambodian proverb we always like to reflect upon says “Active hands make for full bellies”. So please allow us to share a piece of our family’s love and fill your family’s bellies.
the origin of the texas kolache
In the mid 1800’s, Texas would see a large influx of Czech immigrants who would come through the port of Galveston and end up settling in central/south-central Texas. They would bring with them a beautiful culture filled with Polka music and a delicious pastry known as a Klobasniky. The klobasniky, a traditionally rectangular shaped pastry filled with fruit or cheese, would not take long to have the Texas flair work its magic on it. A land known for its expertise in BBQ and masterful fusions of foods, it was only a matter of time before the kolache we know today came into existence. Now filled with a variety of fillings such as sausage, cheese, and jalapenos, the kolache would slowly become a staple in Texas cuisine by the 1950’s.
